Dear ReNEW McDonogh City Park Academy Parents & Guardians: 
 
At ReNEW, we feel fortunate for our opportunity to work with you and your children 
every day. Ensuring growth and success in our children determines our overall strength 
and culture, and ReNEW takes our role in leading that student achievement very 
seriously. That said, we have some news to share with you regarding the ReNEW 
McDonogh City Park Academy’s (MCPA) future. 
  
Last month, the Louisiana Department of Education released school performance 
scores (SPS) to the public. For the 2016-17 school year, the MCPA letter grade is an ‘F’, 
down from a ‘D’ the previous school year. 
 
At this time, ReNEW has advised the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) that it will 
relinquish its charter for MCPA. That means ReNEW will not operate a school at this 
location next school year.  
 
Children currently attending MCPA will need to immediately begin the EnrollNOLA 
OneApp process for the 2018-2019 school year. Please note that any changes would 
take place next school year and OPSB is committed to working with families to make 
the enrollment decision that is best for your child(ren). 
 
Your child(ren) will receive O
​ neApp Placement Priority ​next year, giving you first ​priority 
to attend schools in the OneApp system. Also, ​EdNavigator services will be available 
free of charge. ​EdNavigator is​ ​an independent, nonprofit organization that specializes in 
providing expert educational support to New Orleans families.​ ​Moving forward, our 
social workers will also be available to talk with students and provide ongoing support, 
as needed. 
A parent meeting is scheduled for December 1
​ 9th​ at 4
​ :00 PM​. At that time, ReNEW 
staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. 
 

 

  

Although this was likely not the message you hoped to receive, we wanted to advise 
parents about the situation as soon as possible. This helps to ensure everyone is aware 
and understands what is happening at MCPA.

En ReNEW, nos sentimos afortunados de nuestra oportunidad de trabajar con usted y
