MOTION TO REDUCE BOND 

Now comes the defendant, Jose Melendez, by and through his

attorney, JACK C. SMEETON, and moves this Honorable Court to

reduce his bond and in support thereof states:

1. The defendant is 27 years of age and is a lifelong resident

of Chicago.
2. The defendant has been married for eight years and has

a four year old daughter.

3. The defendant's mother and father and ?ve adult sisters

are all residents of Chicago.
4. The defendant is currently employed by the Chicago Transit

Authority in track maintenance, and has been so employed for two
years. Prior to working for the C.T.A., the defendant worked for

the Mid-American Painting Company in Franklin Park in shipping

and receiving for three years. Prior thereto, the defendant worked
for Burns Security in Chicago as a security guard for one and one
half years.

5. The defendant has further been employed as a v. 
counselor for The Better Boys Foundation in the Shakespeare neigh-
borhood of Chicago for the past three years.

6. The defendant is the sole support of his wife and child. He
rents his home and owns one automobile.

7. The defendant owns no real or personal prOperty of signi-
ficant value.

8. The defendant is unable to meet the current bond of three
hundred thousand dollars, however, he could make a reasonable
bond with the help of friends and relatives.

9. The defendant promises to meet any and all conditions this
Honorable Court would see ?t to impose on his bond and promises to
appear in court as required.

10. The defendant has no prior criminal record.

WHEREFORE, the defendant prays this Honorable Court to

reduce his bond.
