EMPLOYMENT LETTER OF AGREEMENT Mirna Martínez New London Board of Education, President 134 Williams Street New London, CT 06320 Re: Terms of Employment for February 1, 2018 through February 28, 2018 Dear Stephen Tracy: As you know, on December 20, 2017 the New London Board of Education voted to extend your appointment as Interim Superintendent of New London Public Schools! By action of the Board of Education at the meeting, your appointment is effective through February 28, 2018. It is my pleasure to offer you the following terms of employment: 1. The term of your employment as Interim Superintendent of New London Public Schools is from February 1, 2018, to February 28, 2018. The Board reserves the right to extend the life of this agreement with mutual consent from Dr. Tracy. The Board agrees to notify you no later than February 2, 2018 of its decision to extend the agreement. 2. You shall normally work five (5) days per week, adjusted as necessary to appropriately attend to district affairs. 3. During the term of this Agreement, the Board agrees to pay you at a per diem rate of Seven Hundred and Twenty-Five Dollars and Zero Cents ($725.00/day) payable in accordance with the Board of Education’s payment schedule. The per diem payment shall be subject to applicable United States Withholding Tax, applicable State of Connecticut Withholding Tax and other applicable deductions mandated by state or federal law. 4. An additional amount of four hundred and sixteen dollars ($416.00), over and above the cash component set forth in Section (A) above will be paid to you in substantially equal installments during the contract term, as to which amount the you may arrange to have an elective deferral deducted from your salary on a pre-tax basis as permitted under Internal Revenue Code 403(b), as amended, and then contributed toward the purchase of a 403(b) annuity with a tax sheltered annuity company he chooses from a list of participating providers with NLPS and/or into a 403(b)(7) custodial account of the Superintendent’s choice under the 403(b) plan available to Board employees in accordance with Section 403(b) of the Code. This elective deferral option will be provided only if you satisfy all of the necessary requirements to complete such a deferral. 5. The Board shall provide you sick leave to use in the event of personal injury or illness. The Board reserves the right to request documentation of the need for any period of sick leave. The Board agrees that the Superintendent shall have available Ten (10) hours of sick leave throughout the term of this Agreement. 6. You will be provided with Seven (7) hours of Personal time throughout the term of this Agreement. 7. You will be provided with the sum of Five Hundred and Eighty-Three Dollars ($583.00) to pay any associated premiums for life insurance, disability insurance or other insurance during the term of this agreement. 8. You will be provided with a monthly stipend of five hundred dollars ($500.00) for reimbursement of travel expenses incurred in the performance of your duties under this Agreement. Such amount shall be prorated for any month partially worked. 9. You will be provided with a stipend of five hundred dollars ($500.00) for reimbursement of miscellaneous expenses incurred in the performance of your duties under this Agreement. Such amount shall be prorated for any month partially worked. 10. The Interim Superintendent or the Board may terminate the contract for any reason upon thirty (30) days’ written notice to the other party.
