Restrooms will be upgraded to ADA accessibility standards, with the required dimensions, clearances, and fixtures. $500,000 This $17,981,756 RACP project consists of the removal of the aging boiler system, and installation of a new central power plant and associated engineering costs. $1,250,000 State Road Foods II, Inc. will demolish the existing, aged shopping center and replace it with a new, 70,000 SF grocery store that will anchor the revitalized shopping center. The new location will be designed with 49,000 SF of selling area. RACP funds are requested to support the construction of a new, 70,000 SF ShopRite grocery store and the surrounding retail and commercial buildings comprising a new shopping center. $6,000,000 This proposed project would modernize the mill. This proposed project would convert Co-Generation of electricity from coal based to natural gas based. $500,000 This project addresses structural repair the Marcus Hook Delaware River Fishing Pier & Ice Breakers. In general, the pier was labeled in SERIOUS condition due to widespread and extensive deterioration of timber piles. Outlined in the report was an implementation schedule to replace posts at piles that were previously repaired that have since deteriorated and to install new posts at severely deteriorated piles. Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program Monroe Energy West Side Project Monroe Energy, LLC Delaware Trainer Borough $7,000,000 $500,000 The Monroe Energy West Side Project is an integral subset of the $190 M Tier III ULSG mandated improvement. The $23.06 M West Side project includes the engineering, procurement and construction services necessary to install the ULSG component parts within the Monroe Refinery. The RACP project further includes construction of new infrastructure equipment to support the unit in order to safely integrate it into the Monroe Refinery. These modifications include a new Electrical Substation; a Cooling Tower; and installation of a Process Heater. The ULSG and West Side integrated system will enable Monroe to remove an additional 20ppm of sulfur from its refined gasoline. The EPA estimates that in 2030 the annual monetized health benefits of implementation of its Tier 3 standards will be between $6.7 and $19 Billion. WES is now proposing a new 50,000 sf facility. $1,500,000 The project consists of the complete renovation of the former Family Court Building located at 1801 Vine Street in Philadelphia ("1801"). The City made 1801 available for renovation into a hotel, and restricted other uses. The funds would be used for construction costs associated with repairs, restoration, upgrades and code compliance of existing historic fabric as well as hazardous material remediation. The RACP will be limited to the non-residential portion of the development. This encompasses the entire building save the 90 condos beginning on the 18th floor. $500,000 RACP funds will support infrastructural upgrades to the lower level of the 118-year old Playhouse. This work will double the public programming space on Smith's lower level and transform 4,000 square feet of unusable space into classroom and administrative space. Upgrades to the exterior will prevent further deterioration. $1,500,000 The redevelopment of 915 Spring Garden is located in the City’s burgeoning Spring Arts District walking distance of Center City, along the Spring Garden Street from 9th Street to 12th Street, and adjacent to mass transit. This redevelopment project is specifically targeting business formation and job creation in creative class industries that range from technology, job training industries seeking affordable commercial rents for the redevelopment of the blighted 75,000 SF building to commercial space. Spring Arts will become a laboratory for ideas – a true home for the entrepreneur. Startups, business incubators, and business accelerators will work side by side. Our acquisition of multiple blighted properties in a targeted geographic area, the Spring Arts zone, creates a critical mass for these types of businesses and job creation centers to thrive in viable and affordable centers for business formation allowing new businesses to grow. Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program Spring Garden and Festival Piers Delaware River Waterfront Corporation Philadelphia Philadelphia City $5,000,000 $2,000,000 The RACP request of $5 million will be used to fund the cost of site preparation for Spring Garden and Festival Piers. The Spring Garden and Festival Piers consist of decks that are deteriorating and ultimately are unable to support any new construction. The redevelopment will provide new, safe piers as part of a broader transformation of the Delaware River into a vibrant live, work, play environment. The West Philadelphia Institute 22 S 40th Street Owner Philadelphia Philadelphia City $2,575,000 $250,000 22 South 40th Street Owner, LLC has acquired a historically significant, 20,000 sq ft office building at 40th and Ludlow Streets in West Philadelphia. The West Philadelphia Institute building will house fast-growing small for-profit and not-forprofit businesses who are seeking a collaborative, “coworking” office environment. We plan for a complete renovation of the interior spaces with new building systems, flooring, drywall, wall/ceiling finishes and FFE. We will also restore the exterior facades to renew the building to its 1927 appearance. This will involve masonry restoration, all new historically appropriate windows, storefront and doors. A new green roof will be installed as well as attractive sidewalk and streetscape improvements at ground level. A 2,500 sq ft new restaurant will be located on the ground floor. Uptown Theater Uptown Entertainment and Development Corporation Philadelphia Philadelphia City $2,500,000 Walnut Street Theatre Expansion Project Walnut Street Theatre Philadelphia Philadelphia City $10,000,000 West Philadelphia Expansion Community College of Philadelphia Philadelphia Philadelphia City $5,000,000 $500,000 The development plans include renovating the historic Uptown Theater located at 2240-48 N. Broad Street Philadelphia as a performing arts venue, creating a museum dedicated to preserving African American music, and developing a media center. $1,000,000 Walnut Street Theatre will design and construct a 30,000 sq. ft. addition to our historic theatre in order to meet the needs of audiences and community. Planned for a parcel of land worth $6M already owned by the theatre, the new facility will connect to current physical plant and include a 400-seat theatre, two restaurants, expanded public lobbies, a new box office, and two rehearsal halls. $1,250,000 The College is acquiring two parcels of land adjacent to the existing automotive technology program for construction of a new, state-of-the-art automotive technology center.
