Vice President Content Programming Entertainment Group gH' Linda K. Bura koff January 4, 2018 Charlotte Cohen General Manager, WSFX-FOX 322 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412-1835 Via email at Dear Ms. Cohen: It?s unfortunate we have been unable to come to terms to extend our retransmission consent agreement with WSFX. We wanted to keep providing WSFX to our customers, yet as determined by law, WSFX alone has the power to determine whether the station remains in the DIRECTV or U?verse lineups since that requires permission from you and your Charlotte-based owner, American Spirit Media. All we need is your permission even temporarily and we can have WSFX back into our Wilmington customers? homes within moments. It?s as simple as that. It?s been a strong year for the Carolina Panthers, who finished second in the highly competitive NFC South, and will now play the divisional champion, New Orleans Saints, in the opening Wild Card round ofthe NFL playoffs this Sunday at approximately 3:40 pm. CST on FOX. We believe there is absolutely no public interest served by WSFX and Charlotte-based American Spirit?s continuing its deliberate station blackout and intentionally inconveniencing thousands of Wilmington homes and denying proprietors of North Carolina restaurants and sports bars that televise Panthers football from promoting their local businesses and benefiting their employees. Therefore, we formally request that WSFX and American Spirit immediately return WSFX to all DIRECTV and U?verse customers in the Wilmington area for, at minimum, the duration of this Sunday?s game, enabling local residents to renew their support for the Panthers as they begin the difficult path toward Super Bowl in Minneapolis, set for Sunday, Feb. 4 on NBC. In return, we agree to compensate American Spirit and WSFX for not only the duration of this week?s game but for Sunday?s entire 24-hour schedule, and ?g apply any new retransmission consent fee to which we eventually agree. We remain hopeful that we can maintain a productive, professional business relationship with American Spirit in common service of the local Wilmington community, and look forward to your immediate and affirmative response. Sincerely, . BH- Linda Burakoff 2260 E. Imperial Highway, El Segundo, CA 90245 Phone: 310.964.5382 Email: LKBurakoff@att.com
