Washington D.C., January 8, 2018 Jeannette Von Wolferdorff Executive Director Fiscal Spending Observatory of Chile Republic of Chile Dear Jeanette, I am pleased to inform you that the Lead Stewards of the Global Initiative for Fiscal Transparency have asked me to warmly welcome the Observatorio del Gasto Fiscal en Chile as a new Steward of the action network. As such, the Observatorio becomes a member of GIFT and part of the General Stewards Meetings that take place twice a year. These meetings function as the advisory body of GIFT, providing a forum for GIFT stakeholders to define and advance the objectives of the initiative and to exchange their experiences in promoting fiscal openness, understood as fiscal transparency, participation, and accountability. We are honored by the Observatorio’s willingness to play a more engaged role in the guidance of our multi-stakeholder action network and we know that your input will enrich the plurality of the discussions at GIFT and enlarge the reach of its technical perspectives. At the same time, we look forward to exploring opportunities for productive collaboration in advancing the agenda for fiscal transparency, participation and accountability in Chile. Some of the functions of the stewards are to define GIFT's guiding principles and norms and ensure that they continue to evolve to meet the value proposition of the network; to set the global agenda and provide strategic advice to the action network; to propose and agree upon the work streams and participate in them; to lead efforts to implement agreements and report on products and results; to establish working groups and contribute expertise and resources to them; and to provide intellectual and financial support, including through in-kind and human resource support. We will keep you posted of all the communications that regard the Stewards. In a separate communication, I have sent a letter to all GIFT stewards announcing the good news about your membership. I thank you again for your kind consideration. Juan Pablo Guerrero Network Director fiscaltransparency.net @FiscalTrans
