FOR IMMEDIATELY RELEASE Contact: Kesia Knight (216) 738.8643 Email: tjdow2018@gmail.com January 11, 2018 TJ Dow Farewell Letter It has been a profound honor to serve our community as your Ward 7 Councilman for the last 10 years. From the moment that I was elected to office, I have fought to protect the legacy and encourage the growth of Ward 7. I never took the responsibility of serving as your voice in Council lightly. I am humbled by the changes made to build up our community and ourselves. It has not been an easy task, but we stayed the course. I am most proud of the accomplishments we’ve made for example, the expansion of security cameras to enhanced neighborhood, community policing in the Ward, increasing the availability of affordable housing for new and returning residents. Our New Day in Hough celebrations and the revitalization of League Park were also very fond memories as well. I sincerely appreciate all of your support throughout the years. Please know that I’ve dedicated community funds to a program that will benefit the youth in our Ward. This program will become a reality under the leadership of Ken Johnson, the City’s Chairman of Parks and Recreation Department. The following recreation centers in Ward 7 will participate in a program: Thurgood Marshall Recreation Center, Sterling Recreation Center and EJ Kovacic Recreation Center. The funds will provide resources for a dedicated space utilizing the water park at the recreation center. The program will support the development of a youth leadership program to include city-wide collaborative leadership workshops, anti-bullying and gang violence classes, swimming lessons, and educational supports for children that include Ward 7. In addition to supporting our youth, the program will create job opportunities for Ward 7 residents. This program is scheduled to begin in the March 2018 and will continue for the next 7 years. As the former Vice Chair of the City’s Chairman of Parks and Recreation Department, the inception of this program began with conversations and planning collaboratively two years ago. In an effort to leave a legacy for our children, it is my hopes that this project will continue to go forth. Once again, thank you for your support. It has been a pleasure to serve you. I look forward to seeing you in the community. Thank you, God Bless!
