ANC CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO SPARE NO EFFORT TO RESCUE TRAPPED MINERS The African National Congress has noted with great concern reports of approximately 900 mine workers trapped underground at the Sibanye Gold mine in the Free State. According to the reports, these compatriots have been underground since yesterday evening following an electricity power interruption due to inclement weather. The ANC calls on Eskom to speedily intervene to restore power to the mine and for government to spare no effort in assisting the mining company bring these workers back to safety.
