wILo September 30, 2017 Ms. Tamara Garrett, Planner Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections 700 Fifth Ave, Ste 2000 PO. Box 34019 Seattle, WA 98124-4019 PROJECT 3028428 103 Pike Street Dear Ms. Garrett, As owners of Wild Ginger and the Triple Door, my wife and I have been longtime business owners, advocates and champions of downtown Seattle and the Pike Place Market. For more than 30 years, we have seen the area around the Market change and grow, which is what neighborhoods need to do to remain relevant and dynamic. We want to express our support for the design concept for the new hotel project located at 103 Pike Street. The proposed hotel at First Pike will bring new and desirable activity to the street level of Pike Street and First Avenue. The additional tourist, business, and leisure travelers overnighting in the Pike Place Market neighborhood will dine, shop and further strengthen the well being and enjoyment experienced in this important area of Seattle. We think the design concept fits in well with the overall Market. Additionally, the hotel is consistent with the vision and design for the Pike Pine Renaissance being led by the City of Seattle, the Downtown Seattle Association and Waterfront Seattle, which we also support. The hotel will help implement objectives of the Pike Pine Renaissance, which include improving and enhancing the pedestrian experience to create a safe, comfortable and more inviting neighborhood for locals and visitors to enjoy. Ann and welcome this new addition to our community and urge the EDG board to approve the project. inger Triple Door 1401 third avenue - seattle, washington 98101 tel: 206.623.4450 - fax: 206.838.7813 -
