My name is John Corboy, M.D. 2. I have personal knowledge regarding the facts below. 3. I am competent to attest to the facts below. 4. I am a physician licensed to practice medicine in the state of Colorado, specializing in neurology. 5. I am the Co-Director of the Rocky Mountain Multiple Sclerosis Center at Anschutz Medical Campus, which provides a multidisciplinary approach for symptomatic and immunological therapies. 6. On November 8, 2011, I, along with three other neurologists from the University of Colorado, sent the Complaint Against Gary Weiss, MD, attached as Ex. ___, to the Colorado Medical Board. 7. that letter. I have personal knowledge regarding the facts and opinions outlined in 8. Before sending this letter, I had never reported another physician to the Colorado Medical Board. 9. I sent the letter to the Colorado Medical Board because I had serious concerns about the medical care Dr. Weiss was providing to patients. 10. I was especially concerned about the medical care Dr. Weiss was providing to patients who he diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (“MS”).As reflected in the letter, I raised several, distinct concerns with the Colorado Medical Board about Dr. Weiss’ medical care and treatment of patients with MS. 11. Based on my review of medical records, as well as numerous conversations with other neurologists throughout Colorado, Dr. Weiss has misdiagnosed many, many people with MS. 12. As part of our neurology practice at the University of Colorado, we get referrals from other neurologists all over the region who have questions about an MS diagnosis. On occasion, we will overturn a prior diagnosis of MS. When we were referred patients of Dr. Weiss who he had diagnosed with MS before he left Colorado, we saw a different, unexpected pattern—an inordinate percentage of the patients we saw who Dr. Weiss had diagnosed with MS did not actually have MS at any time. 14. Based on our referrals, Dr. Weiss’ misdiagnosed more patients with MS than could ever be expected when following accepted standards of care. 15. Reviewing records from patients who Dr. Weiss diagnosed with MS also reveals that he was ordering excessive amounts of MRIs, which were taken at the facility he owned, and that he was prescribing unnecessary medications, both for financial gain. I, John Corboy, MD, declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct 2 Exhibit 17
