METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Interim Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 February 19, 2018 Homicide: 4200 Block of 7th Street, Southeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, February 16, 2018, in the 4200 block of 7th Street, Southeast. At approximately 1:02 am, officers responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Once on the scene, they discovered an adult male, inside of a residence, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. A short time later, a second victim, a juvenile male, sought treatment at a local hospital for non-life threatening gunshot wounds. On Sunday, February 18, 2018, the adult male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Chicano Phillips, of Southeast, DC. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
