METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 March 6, 2018 Arrest Made in a Homicide: 2900 block of Nelson Place, Southeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, May 8, 2016, in the 2900 block of Nelson Place, Southeast. At approximately 1:47 am, members of the Sixth District responded to a call for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival on the scene, members located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where all lifesaving efforts failed and the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent was identified as 34 year-old Don Lavae Williams, Jr., of Waldorf, MD. On Tuesday, March 06, 2018, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) located and arrested 35 year-old Andrew McKinney of Landover, MD.
