Hello Mr. Wright,
I was told by Dr. Cantu with HR to contact you about my concerns.

i'd like to begin a conversation with you to change the wording of discrimination policy. Currently it
only includes the language "race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age and disability." researched
other Texas district policies. San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin have all added: "sexual orientation, gender
identity, and gender expression" to their non-discriminatory language.

I think it is important that MISD starts movement towards progress now. We have many LGBTO. teachers,
students, and families in this district. We deserve the right to feel protected by our district.

As we all know, MISD broke federal law and held out on integration for 11 years after Brown Vs. The Board of
Education. As a teacher who loves where teach and my community, i would like for us to be on the correct
side of history this time.

Please let me know of the next steps to take to ensure that progress begins soon on changing this language
and truly making MISD a great place to LIVE, LEARN and TEACH.

I ?nd it in the best interest of the District to place you on administrative leave with pay, effective
September 8, 2017 until an investigation has been completed. You should attend no District
activities until the period of leave is rescinded without the express consent of your supervisor.

You are further directed to make no contact with students, parents, or other sta?' members. You
are directed to not discuss your administrative leave situation with others. You may not access
school technology, your of?ce or department.

In order to turn in departmental materials and/or pick up any personal belongings, you will need
to call Ms. Petty to make an appointment. The appointment will be scheduled after work hours.

I've been a teacher with MISD for 10 years and have nothing but love and respect for
this district and each of you. I would like to keep you all in the loop about a change I wish to
see in district policy.

Hi Lisa,

I was directed to you from your counselor. l?m trying to come up with a plan to get LG BTQ language in
non?discrimination policy. I have a meeting next Monday to hopefully start progress to do
this. Right now, I?m just gathering information.

About how many students participate in your gay/straight alliance? Do you know of any other MISD
high schools who have a similar group? i I emailed counselors from all the high schools and have only
received a response back from your

I?m Stacy Bailey, I've been teaching elementary art at Charlotte Anderson Elementary in MISD for the
last 10 years. l'm currently starting dialogue with the district to update our discriminatory policy to
include protection for students, families and teachers.

I?m doing some research on how/if MISD high school campuses supply support to their 
students. Does your campus have a gay/straight alliance group on campus? It may be called by a
different name. If so, can you connect me to the faculty member who organizes this group?
