30489793 EXHIBIT AA TO THE DECLARATION OF VALIANT RICI-IEY IN SUPPORT OF KING OPPOSITION TO MOTION TO DISQUALIFY THE PROSECUTING OFFICE, TO DISMISS THE CRIMINAL COMPLAINT EXHIBIT AA 30489793 Ce: Kate Lagreca Larry To: Richey, From: Sydney Asbury Sent: Mon 5111I2015 10:22:26 AM Subject: Re: Draft Release l-Ii Val, While I understand Peter?s concerns, I am worried that removing all references to sex traf?cking will hurt our ability to grab reporters attention. In recent weeks, there has been a great deal of national attention on sex traf?cking. To that end, if we describe Our work as ?ghting ?commercial sexual exploitation" we run the risk of con?ising reporters who are not as plugged into the nuances of these issues as we are. Is there a way to take out some of the references to sex traf?cking, but not all? I believe Peter is spot on, but i recognize that the move to CSE from Trafficking will make it more subtle for the audience. How can we resolve this? When the problem is de?ned as tra?icking it opens the door to the claim that anti-Demand strategies con?ate trafficking with consensual sex work; it is something we hear a lot here in Seattle. "Sex traf?cking" also locates the harm of prostitution in the 3rd party action of pimping and treats the buyers' actions as problematic only because they contribute to the harm of traf?cking. When we use "Commercial Sexual Exploitation" we recognize that the practice of buying sex is exploitative and that, pimp or no pimp, adult or child, the practice of buying sex is harm?il and problematic. Otherwise, I think this looks great On Thu, Apr 30, 2015 at [:44 AM, Kate Lagrcca wrote: Hi, team?- Sending along the updated draft of the press release, incorporating Cici?s edits and some feedback from Val. Kate will be circulating an updated version shortly. Based on my conversation with Val, it?s clear that the press release needs to go out under King Country Prosecuting Attorney's Of?ce heading. King County is best positioned to answer questions relating to the data etc. With that being said, we?re going to work in a quote from Ziba and a reference to the national CEASE network. Please call me directly if you have additional questions or concerns. More coating Sydney On Apr 28, 2015, at 7:12 PM, Richey, Valiant wrote: Yes. Sometime between 2 and 4 pm.
