Hi Lori 1li'anessa is correct. In the process of closing out some backlog earlier this vear. we sent out
several "complaint-closure? letters to complainants, en mass. Some of those complainants ended up
releasing these generic letters to the rneelia, and. as a result, the schools that were the subjects of these
complaints got wind that we had received a complaint regarding that particular IH Er and had
conducted an assessment and closed said complaint out. We did not send any such letters to the target
lH Es. and. because these were initial complaint assessments and not Program Reviews (very different in
complexity and scopelissue liltEl'f had no idea that our Division I.rlras even looking at
there prior to seeing the complaint-closure letters ?1 the media-

We did close a buneh of complaints in August. but the letters were sent to the eomplainants as he
noted abeve. A. eorrespending letter was not sent her the sehoels. did net provide these letters
to the complainants because he is requesting letters sent to institutions for that tintel?rante.
