A promise?: Dead River 7 i Company DATE Dear In October 2012, we entered the electricity supply business to offer our customers an electric thermal electricity supply rate that was less than the Standard Offer saving you approximately 6% on your electricity supply bill. Since then, the escalating cost of natural gas has contributed to the increased cost of electricity. As a result, many electricity supply providers increased their rates to levels above the Standard Offer, costing consumers more on their energy bills. Dead River Company upheld its promise to offer you savings by keeping our rates below the Standard Offer. Because the cost of electricity is predicted to increase again, we cannot guarantee savings below the Standard Offer beyond December. After careful consideration, as of January 1, 2015, Dead River Company will no longer offer electricity supply as part of our offering of products and services. As of your December meter reading date, we will seamlessly transfer your account back to the Standard Offer provider for your utility area. We know this news will generate questions, and hope the following FAQs will help answer those questions. As always, we thank you for choosing Dead River Company and welcome your calls at 1-855-207-1 600. Our Customer Relationship Specialists are ready to assist you. Warmest regards, Claudette Townsend For more information, please see reverse side. Frequently Asked Questions What does this mean me? For customers who have a re-enrollment due in the months of August to December of 2014, Dead River Company will send you a re-enrollment notification as usual and continue to supply your electricity at our below?the?Standard Offer electricity supply rate unless you terminate your enrollment with us. As of your December 2014 meter reading, we will seamlessly transition your electricity supply account over to the Standard Offer provider for your electric utility area (CMP or Emera). Do I still get a discounted rate from my utility company? This change is about the supply portion of your bill only, currently supplied by Dead River Company, and does not impact the utility company plans for transmission or distribution charges. If there were changes to those rates, they would be communicated by your utility company. Do I need to do anything right now? If you remain enrolled as a Dead River Company electricity supply customer until December of this year, you do not have to do anything. As of your December 2014 meter reading date, we will seamlessly transition your electricity supply account over to the Standard Offer provider for your electric utility area or Emera). Can I choose another electricity supply provider, now? Yes. If you would prefer to choose another electricity supply provider before December 2014, Dead River Company will waive the early termination fee. Will my electricity bill increase? If you remain a Dead River Company electricity supply customer until the end of 2014, you will continue to receive an electric thermal heating electricity supply rate below the Standard Offer. As of your December meter read date when your account is transitioned to the Standard Offer, electric thermal heating customers will see an increase as low as a few cents per month for space heating up to approximately $5.00 per month for a whole house system, depending on the utility area. How can other suppliers offer below Standard Offer rates and Dead River Company cannot? Although we cannot speak for other companies, our research shows that many electricity supply providers? rates are currently above the Standard Offer, or they are offering a lower than the Standard Offer introductory ?xed rate that converts to a variable rate. Last winter, some variable rates were more than double the Standard Offer rate. As you consider your options, we encourage you to carefully review the provider?s Terms of Service and remember it takes 1-2 months to move from one supplier to another. Is Standard Offer a good deal? If the electricity supply provider that you?re considering does not offer a rate below $0.075603 in market, or $075 760 in Emera's market through February 2015, you will pay more for your electricity supply than if you were on the Standard Offer, or stayed with Dead River Company until December of this year. As you consider your options, we encourage you to carefully review the provider?s Terms of Service. What if] have questions about other providers? offers? We are always happy to assist you, but we do not have all the details related to other providers' offers. We encourage you to contact the provider to discuss their rates and details of their Terms of Service.
