On behalf of the City of Chicago Department of Human Resources (“DHR”), I am responding to
your Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) request received on March 22, 2018 seeking:


Overtime earned by Streets & Sanitation employees with the title of Field Vehicle
Investigator or Supervisor of Vehicle Investigator. I’m requesting a data set of employee
names and overtime by month for the years of 2012-2017.

In response to your question regarding the names of Streets and Sanitation employees with the
title of Field Vehicle Investigator and Supervisor of Vehicle Investigator from 2012-2017, please
see the attached spreadsheet.
Concerning your request for the overtime earned by those employees from 2012-2017, please
note that each City department is a “public body” under Section 2 of FOIA, 5ILCS 140/2(a). See
Duncan Publishing, Inc. v. City of Chicago, 304 III. App. 3d 778, 784, 709 N.E.2d 1281, 1286
(1st Dist. 1999) (“Clearly, each of the individual departments are subsidiary bodies of the City
and are ‘public bodies’ as defined by the FOIA.”)
A FOIA request must be directed to the department that maintains the records you are seeking.
The Department of Human Resources has no records responsive to that portion of your request.
