Earlier this year, a substitute teacher behaved in an unsafe and unprofessional manner, and this individual was subsequently fired by the district. The substitute?s actions were egregious, and this type of behavior is not tolerated in our schools. This morning our superintendent Brian Levesque, the high school principal Jeffrey Theodoss, and the assistant principal Tatiana Patten turned themselves in to the state police on a warrant for failure to report the situation in a timely fashion. These highly respected leaders in our district have been placed on leave pending the outcome of our internal investigation as well as the ongoing state police investigation. As a district, we must and we will rebuild and restore your trust by ensuring all of our students are guaranteed a safe and engaging learning environment every day. You deserve to know that your students are attending excellent schools and receiving a world-class education in a safe environment, and we expect nothing less. On behalf of the district, i want to reaffirm our commitment to our students and our families. You entrust us with your most precious resource, and it is our privilege to support your children in discovering their passions and achieving their full potential. The unfortunate events at Montville High School earlier this year are not representative ofour district?s vision, values, and vibrant school communities. i have had the honor of serving as an educator in our district for 25 years, and i am inspired by the progress we are making together to improve student achievement and close opportunity gaps. We will not be defined by this situation, though we must learn and grow from it. Rather, we are defined by our exceptionally talented students, incredibly skilled and dedicated educators, and engaged families and partners. Together, we must reclaim the headlines. i am proud of our schoois, and lam humbled to be part of such a rich and nurturing learning community. in Partnership,
