--2 residents (90 yo male and 89 yo female) have been diagnosed with Legionella pneumonia (Positive urine antigen)

Next Steps:

--Onsets were 7/24 and 8/16. Information obtained to date indicates first case did not leave facility during incubation
period
--Facility has cooling towers and outdoor fountains; cases live in same building and reportedly used same shower
room
Further investigation and interim measures are indicated; based on available information, source of infection is likely to
be at the facility .
This may reach media attention.
We had a conf call with the facility and LHD at 430 pm today
--Requested additional epi information regarding cases
--Requested information regarding cooling tower operation and maintenance
--Requested information regarding city testing of facility water
-- Recommended: turn off outdoor fountains; keep windows of building where cases reside closed (AC is on); do not use
bathing room that cases used for now.
