Teacher at Kemp Elementary 0 Connie Bonnell, Grandparent - Diane Aretz, First Grade Teacher at Monaco Elementary 0 Jill Bash, Parent Karen Colato, District Front Office Administrative Assistant 0 Maria Rodriguez, Parent 0 Maria Sanchez, Parent Overview: The purpose of the Superintendent?s Recess Advisory Committee is to convene a committee of committed parents, educators and staff who will explore specific topics through work-study sessions in order to make informed recommendations that will help improve the district and have an impact on student achievement. The Recess Advisory Committee met every Thursday from April 5 through April 26 to provide recommendations to the Superintendent regarding recess in Adams 14 elementary schools. They explored various aspects of recess and physical activity in order to provide thoughtful recommendations that were mindful of the ripple effect of those who might be affected by such recommendations. At the April 26, 2018 Recess Advisory Committee meeting, committee members agreed to the following recommendations to be shared with the Superintendent. 4/26/2018 A DAMS l4 Inspire. Educate?npomr. Inspire. ?union-lace. Recommendations regarding Activity: a. At least 20 minutes of recess (non-academic physical activity) during the school hours. b. Recess that is Inclusive of ALL students. c. District explores outside partnerships that facilitate recess and train staff on developing policies and best practices around unstructured times. cl. Allocate or seek adequate resources and equipment for recess. e. The District Wellness Committee continues. to evaluate the social emotional learning policies including non-structured time. f.
