3 Shell International B.V. / Confidential / Commercially Sensitive 10 2 g Background (not for sharing) Since 2010, over 4200 billion cubic metres of gas reserves (significantly more than the original Groningen field) have been discovered off Mozambique’s north-eastern coast. These are contained in 2 blocks operated by Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (USA) and ENI (Italy) each of which intends to monetise the gas via LNG export projects. The Mozambican Government (via the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy) recently organised a public tender for the award of 400 million cubic feet per day (about 4 billion cubic metres per year) of domestic gas – a quantity which has been tentatively and conditionally pledged by Anadarko to the domestic market as part of its LNG export development project. 10 2 g 10 2 g 10 2 g, 10 2 a 10 2 a, 10 2 g
