Marsha Carroll (R1) is friends with Stephen Paoletti (O1), who resides at 1795 Hideaway Ln, Edgewater. The two have been friends for approximately a year and a half and communicate daily. Paoletti's communication (all forms) with Carroll randomly ceased approximately four days prior. He has had recent issues with his living situation involving his landlord, Nora Galbreath (O2), see VCSO case number 170013918. Carroll is concerned Paoletti may have been harmed in retaliation from the aforementioned incident. According to Carroll, Paoletti is not a harm to himself or others and has not made any alarming statements. He is allegedly diagnosed with ADHD and takes prescribed medication; however, he is not dependant on it. Carroll stated she had reached out to his parents in hopes they have maintained communication, which she advised they have not. Carroll stated when she calls Paoletti, his phones go straight to voicemail. He has also not returned any of her emails. Deputy Calkins responded to Paoletti's last know residence, where his car was parked. Deputy Calkins made contact with the landlord, who advised she has had very limited contact with Paoletti ever since their incident. She stated Paoletti was last seen by her the night prior at the residence. He was riding in an unknown type of pickup truck with unknown persons. The landlord stated Paoletti's vehicle had been seen with the hood up as if it was disabled. She noticed jumper cables/jump box was left out charging near his vehicle. Deputy Proctor visited the home on 06/01/17 at the request of Carroll under the same circumstances. Deputy Proctor informed the landlord to contact law enforcement upon Paoletti's return, which she did not do. Deputy Calkins responded to the camper at the rear of the property, where Paoletti had been staying. Deputy Calkins knocked on the camper numerous times; however, no one answered. Deputy Calkins attempted to look through the windows; however, all the blinds were in a down position. Deputy Calkins looked through the windows of his vehicle, which did not have any tint. The backseat was in a down position, allowing Deputy Calkins to see into the trunk area from the cab area of the vehicle. There were no foul odors or odor associated with decomposition emanating from the camper, vehicle or immediate area. Deputy Calkins called all the listed phone numbers for Paoletti from RMS; however, he did not receive an answer on all of them, with some of them going straight to voicemail. Deputy Calkins checked the VCBJ website and learned Paoletti had no been recently arrested/incarcerated. Deputy Calkins checked for involvements with Paoletti's name through VCSO Teletype and RMS. Deputy Calkins learned the most recent involvement was from the aforementioned incident involving the landlord. Deputy Calkins checked the Clerks of Court website and was unable to find any recent filings done by Paoletti. Deputy Calkins had noticed a Daytona Beach Speedway Employee decal on his windshield. Carroll had also mentioned he recently worked security detail at the venue. Deputy Calkins contacted the venue's security department, who advised Paoletti was not a employee of the venue; however, may have been employed by a third party who was contracted to provide security at the "Country 500". Deputy Calkins was provided a phone number for Paoletti's father, "Anthony and Constance" (716-668-6852). Deputy Calkins contacted the male, who identified himself as his father. He stated he only speaks with his son on the weekends and as yet to hear from him for the current weekend. The male stated it is not unusual for them as parents to go a week without hearing from his son. The male stated he was unaware of his son "disappearing" until Carroll called them yesterday and informed them. They stated they have tried to call him and his phone does go straight to voicemail. The male and female advised their son is diagnosed with ADHD and takes prescribed medication. They do not believe Paoletti poses a harm to himself or others. A BOLO for Paoletti was issued to eastside Volusia County law enforcement agencies. The BOLO advised to notify Deputy Calkins if Paoletti had been seen. At this time, Deputy Calkins' investigation revealed Paoletti did not meet criteria to be entered as a missing person in FCIC/NCIC.
