Probable Cause Statement ON 5/18/18 AT APPROXIMATELY 0400 HOURS THE DEFENDANT A 21 YO MALE COMMITTED KIDNAPPING AGAINST THE VICTIM A 9 YO FEMALE BY REMOVING THE VICTIM FROM HER APARTMENT THROUGH A BEDROOM WINDOW AND CARRYING HER TO AN APARTMENT COMPLEX LOCATED AT IN PHOENIX. ON 5/18/18 THE VICTIM WAS FORENSICALLY INTERVIEWED AND DISCLOSED THAT SHE WAS ASLEEP IN HER BEDROOM WHEN SHE HEARD HER WINDOW OPENING AND THE DEFENDANT REACHED IN THE WINDOW AND PICKED HER UP AND CARRIED HER OVER HIS SHOULDER FROM HER APARTMENT COMPLEX ACROSS THE LIGHT RAIL TRACKS TO ANOTHER APARTMENT COMPLEX ABOUT A QUARTER MILE AWAY. WHERE THE DEFENDANT SET THE VICTIM DOWN BY A TRASH CAN. THE VICTIM NOTED SHE PRETENDED SHE WAS ASLEEP WHILE THE DEFENDANT CARRIED HER, BECAUSE SHE WAS AFRAID THAT THE DEFENDANT WAS GOING TO HURT HER. WHEN THE DEFENDANT SET THE VICTIM DOWN SHE TOOK OFF RUNNING AND WAS CONTACTED BY TWO FEMALES THAT TOOK THE VICTIM TO THE QT AND THE POLICE WERE CONTACTED. DURING A CANVASS OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD THERE WERE VIDEOS THAT WERE OBTAINED AND VIEWED THAT SHOWED AN INDIVIDUAL MATCHING THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PERSON THE VICTIM DESCRIBED AS BEING THE SUBJECT THAT TOOK HER FROM HER BEDROOM CARRYING WHAT APPEARS TO BE A CHILD ACROSS THE LIGHT RAIL TRACKS. ALSO DURING THE CANVASS OF THE AREA THE DEFENDANT WAS CONTACTED AND MATCHED THE DESCRIPTION. THE DEFENDANT STATED HE WAS HOME AT 0000 HOURS OR 0030 HOURS IN THE MORNING. THE DEFENDANT PROVIDED HIS PERSONAL INFORMATION IN ADDITION TO THE ADDRESS WHERE HE LIVED. CONTACT WAS MADE WITH THE DEFENDANTS ROOMMATE WHO INFORMED OFFICERS THAT THE DEFENDANT LEFT THE ROOMMATES RESIDENCE ON 5/17/18 AT ABOUT 2100 OR 2200 WEARING A VERY SIMILAR CLOTHING DESCRIPTION THAT THE VICTIM GAVE IN HER DISCLOSURE. THE ROOMMATE FURTHER NOTED THE DEFENDANT DID NOT GET HOME UNTIL AFTER 0400 HOURS. REVIEW OF THE APARTMENT COMPLEX VIDEOS WHERE THE DEFENDANT LIVES SHOWED THE DEFENDANT WALKING INTO HIS APARTMENT AFTER 0400 HOURS. THE DEFENDANT WAS DETAINED AND TRANSPORTED TO 620 W. WASHINGTON. THE DEFENDANT WAS COOPERATIVE AND STATED HE WANTED TO ASSIST WITH THE INVESTIGATION. THE DEFENDANT WAS ADVISED OF HIS MIRANDA RIGHTS AND AGREED TO TALK TO DETECTIVES. THE DEFENDANT INITIALLY CONTINUED WITH A SIMILAR NARRATIVE THAT HE GOT HOME AT ABOUT 2330 OUR 0000 HOURS FROM THE BAR AND DENIED HAVING CONTACT WITH ANY YOUNG FEMALES. I ADVISED THE DEFENDANT THAT THERE WERE VIDEOS TO INDICATE THAT HE HAD CONTACT WITH THE VICTIM. THE DEFENDANT THEN ADMITTED THAT HE DID FIND THE VICTIM BEHIND A TRASH CAN, BUT HE DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO HER. THE DEFENDANT FURTHER INDICATED THAT HE DID NOT TOUCH THE VICTIM. I FURTHER ADVISED THE DEFENDANT THAT THERE WAS VIDEO INDICATING THAT HE DID TOUCH THE VICTIM. THE DEFENDANT THEN ADMITTED HE CARRIED THE VICTIM FROM THE TRASH CAN TO THE EDGE OF THE APARTMENT COMPLEX. I TOLD THE DEFENDANT THAT THERE WAS VIDEO INDICATING THAT HE HAD CONTACT WITH HER EARLIER. THE DEFENDANT FINALLY ADMITTED THAT HE CONTACTED THE DEFENDANT AT AN APARTMENT COMPLEX IN PHOENIX. THE DEFENDANT STATED THE VICTIM APPROACHED HIM AND HE WAS JUST ASSISTING HER. THE DEFENDANT STATED HE CARRIED THE VICTIM FROM AN APARTMENT COMPLEX, ACROSS THE LIGHT RAIL TRACKS AND TO ANOTHER APARTMENT COMPLEX. THE DEFENDANT THE PUT THE VICTIM DOWN AT THE EDGE OF THE APARTMENT COMPLEX AND THEN LATER FOUND HER AGAIN BEHIND A TRASH CAN IN THE APARTMENT COMPLEX WHERE HE SET HER DOWN. WHEN I ADVISED THE DEFENDANT THAT THERE WAS FURTHER EVIDENCE TO INDICATE HE WAS AT THE VICTIMS APARTMENT HE STATED THAT HE DID NOT WANT TO TALK TO ME ANYMORE.
