It is our understanding that the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works has
transmitted a favorable US. Army Corps of Engineers analysis of the Central Everglades Planning
Project (CEPP) Post-Authorization Change Report (PACR) to your of?ce for review. We urge you
to dedicate all necessary resources to ensure a timely decision that allows the Senate Environment
and Public Works Committee and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to
include this critical project in the 2018 Water Resources and Development Act.

The PACR aims to enhance the storage and water quality treatment capacity of the CEPP by
implementing the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan?s (CERP) long-proposed Everglades
Agricultural Area (EAA) Storage Reservoir along with necessary water conveyance improvements.
According to the South Florida Water Management District the recommended plan
would increase the authorized water ?ow volumes under CEPP by 76%, greatly bene?tting
Everglades National Park and Florida Bay, especially during the dry season. Construction of the
proposed EAA Storage Reservoir and associated water conveyance and treatment features would
also enable dramatic reductions in damaging discharges from Lake Okeechobee to the Indian River
Lagoon and the Caloosahatchee Estuary.

We strongly support the recommended plan and request your assistance to ensure
a timely review of the CEPP PACR through your of?ce. An enhanced CEPP is key to implementing
the nearly two?decade-old roadmap for Everglades restoration, and we adamantly believe that the
administration?s support would serve as an important milestone for the President?s legacy in
Florida. At your convenience, we also welcome you to visit the Everglades to better appreciate the
full impact of restoration efforts on South Florida's economy and environment, and the vital federal-
state partnership at the heart of these efforts. Thank you for your consideration of these requests.
