Dear Mayor Meiss and Members of City Council: On behalf of the firm of Lindsay Lindsay, P.A., I am withdrawing our proposal to continue to be of service as City Attorney to the City of Milton. This decision has been dif?cult to make. For generations here in Santa Rosa County, my family has made it one of its traditions to be of service. Serving the people as the attorney for the City of Milton has been part of who I am. - While Lindsay Lindsay maintains it is the most quali?ed to serve this City, we recognize that events have shown we should step aside. At times, Council has made decisions contrary to my advice. At times, Council has made decisions without consulting its attorney on questions that merited legal review. Such choices are deeply troubling. I have sought your constructive criticism. I have received no information that supports a decision to distrust my judgment. I value the personal relationships I have with each of you and with your hard-working and dedicated City Staff. On behalf of the Firm, I wish the very best for each of you and for the City of Milton as you build a relationship with a new City Attorney. To facilitate that process, we will continue to work on pending matters to wrap up as'much as possible. This is bene?cial for" the public to avoid the additional fees and costs that arise when legal matters transition between firms. The Firm recommends that this process occur over the next sixty days, concluding no later than July 31, 2018. Thank you for the opportunity to be of service. It has been an honor.
