HURT Councilwoman At-Large April 23, 2018 Members of the Hospital Authority Board, The purpose of this letter is to convey my unwavering support for Dr. Joseph Webb continuing as CEO of Nashville General Hospital. As a former employee of Meharry and 32-year patient of Hubbard Hospital/Nashville General Hospital with more than 25 years as a community leader in the North Nashville community, I have NEVER seen the hospital run more ef?ciently than it has in the last three years. In that time, I have observed that under Dr. Webb?s leadership, the hospital has improved its overall appearance, received multiple awards and recognition, and worked to improve the tenuous relationship with Meharry. Additionally, they have passed Joint Commission, received Level 3 certi?cation with the NCQA, and garnered massive documented support from the community at large. It is critical for the hospital to have stable leadership and these accomplishments prove that the current CEO is the best the hospital has had in years. Thus, I respectfully request that the Hospital Authority Board exercise their leadership authority and take immediate action to renew Dr. Webb?s contract for a term of no less than three years. He has years of proven leadership, hard earned trust of the community and the recent action taken by the Metropolitan Council is de?nitely a vote of con?dence in a tangible way. It would be disastrous to even consider disrupting the tremendous progress that is occurring daily at the hospital with a change in leadership. Further, my 30+ years of nonpro?t experience and education, has assured me that the one thing more lethal than instability in leadership is a Board focused on operations and micromanagement of an established, competent, and quali?ed CEO. I strongly encourage you to move hastily in con?rming the stable leadership of the hospital and offer Dr. Webb a fair and appropriate contract. Sincerely, a?mzm/OW- Sharon W.
