WRITTEN STATEMENT FROM ICCRC The ICCRC has reviewed the notice of application issued by Mr. Watto. The ICCRC believes that the allegations of misconduct made by Mr. Watto against the council are without merit. Under applicable Ontario court rules, Mr. Watto’s notice of application should have been served along with the affidavit evidence on which he relies to support his application. Mr. Watto failed to comply with those rules. Accordingly, we are left with allegations that are unsupported by evidence – allegations that Mr. Watto immediately disclosed to the news media. Mr. Watto ran for the board of directors of ICCRC in 2013 and lost the election. Since losing the election, Mr. Watto has initiated numerous complaints against the ICCRC and some of its members. He has a long list of grievances against ICCRC. None of his complaints, including the information provided to the RCMP, has been substantiated. Mr. Watto is also currently before an ICCRC tribunal, facing potential disciplinary action and revocation of his license. The ICCRC is committed to good governance and financial probity. The ICCRC rejects Mr. Watto’s unsubstantiated allegations of misconduct. The council intends to respond vigorously to Mr. Watto’s court application. The ICCRC is happy to have a court pass on the merits of Mr. Watto’s allegations, so they can be put to rest once and for all. Regarding the resignation of one of our board members, a member has recently resigned but for personal reasons.
