I am firmly committed to defending the Second Amendment and the rights of gun owners in Bucks and Montgomery Counties. That's why in Congress, I have supported legislation to protect the Second Amendment through numerous legislative actions, and have fought to prevent overreach by any federal agency which infringes on the legal rights of gun owners. Fundamental to that commitment is my firm belief in the concept of reciprocity. Our Second Amendment rights are not limited to our homes, and are not limited to our home states. It is a national constitutional right that must apply across the nation. Law-abiding citizens who have ful?lled the necessary requirements in their home state to carry a ?rearm for self- protection should not have their Second Amendment rights infringed by redundant regulations and bureaucracies in other states. In an increasingly polarized political environment where law-abiding gun owners unfairly ?nd themselves demonized by partisan politicians and the media, advancing reciprocity is a critical step in protecting Second Amendment rights from the whims of partisan legislators and activist judges. I iook forward to supporting ?nal passage of reciprocity legislation coming back from the Senate. My concerns with the House legislation stemmed from extraneous provisions included in that bill which undermined the goals of a clean reciprocity bill. To that end, I have opened conversations with Senate leadership to advance a solution so Congress can send, with my support, clean reciprocity ianguage to the President?s desk. My work in Congress continues with the goal of taking our time to seize this opportunity to pass not the quickest, but the most effective, consensus reciprocity measures possible. I want to thank you for your commitment to an issue that is critically important to our country. Please reach out to our office if we can be of any assistance or answer any questions. Sincerely, Brian Fitzpatrick Member of Congress This mailing was pic-pared, published, and mailed at taxpayer expense.
