Dear Mayor Turner,

Houston ?re?ghters were astonished to learn that the City of Houston had ?led liens against the
estates of fallen Houston ?re?ghters and one against a seriously injured ?re?ghter.

We were relieved to see your statement late last night that the City is ?not pursuing? liens against
the ?re?ghter families. However, the City statement left unanswered the question of whether the
City was actually releasing the liens, and not simply maintaining an option to pursue them later.

Please advise on the status of releasing the liens against the ?re?ghter families. Houston
?re?ghters also would appreciate having your assurance that this type of legal maneuver will

never happen again.
