Statement from Pat Buckley One of my businesses recently went through a similar situation. A main water pipe burst in an adjacent tenant’s space and flooded my business resulting in a total loss. To this day the landlord still denies any responsibility. It is frustrating to review the available information. It seems as if the City of Green Bay is trying to avoid taking responsibility for what happened to these city residents. So far, the information shows that Green Bay Water Utility was aware there was a problem and that problem ultimately caused the flooding. My opinion is that, at the very least, the city does bear responsibility to work with the city residents on an equitable solution. A city should not rely on a resident’s insurance to pay for the city’s oversight. Green Bay needs to be proactive to the issue and to make infrastructure a priority.
