. CI POLICE DEPARTMENT a. JOHN IVORY CHIEF JAMES P. PERHON. Mayor 1 75 Waterfall Drive Elkhart, 46516 21 9-295-7070 August 1,1990 T0: Det} Steve Rezutko FROM: Capt. Greg Thomas RE: Written Reprimand On Monday, July 30,1990, at approximately your service weapon was located in an unlocked drawer in the booking area of detention. The weapon! was turned over to me by a member of the Uniform Division. On Tuesday, July 31,1990, while effecting an arrest, you apparently realized your service weapon was missing and advised Lt. Cutler who informed you that I had possession of the weapon. N. g. . On Wednesday, August 1,1990, at approximately you came to me to retrieve the weapon. In turning the weapon over to you, I advised you of this written reprimand. My decision to issue a written reprimand as opposed to an oral reprimand is twofold. First, you were in direct violation of 6.0. 512.06. However, second and more importantly, by not securing your service weapon you run a strong risk of that Weapon being accidentally discharged, stolen or damaged.I?m sure you are aware of the possible consequences should an incident take place involving any of the above.
