FDOT Media Calls 1/9/2018 Reporter's Name: Sarah Elsesser Media Outlet: Palm Beach Daily News Reason For Call: Reporter contacted Flagler Memorial Bridge Replacement Project Office asking what mechanical issues are occurring with the bridge that has caused the recent bridge closures/malfunctions? How long has this been an issue and when can resident expect the issue to be resolved? What causes the breaker to trip, especially since it's a new bridge? Agency Response: Response compiled by D4 Project Manager and the Project Management Team: The mechanical issues impacting the Flagler Memorial Bridge is the result of a breaker occasionally tripping on the southeast leaf, which is preventing the leaf from fully closing. The contractor is performing several tests and troubleshooting to correct the issue. We are continuing to monitor the situation to ensure the issue is resolved. The issue has occurred approximately three times within the last month and a half. The contractor is working diligently to resolve the issue. The testing and troubleshooting will help determine the cause. As this is an intermittent issue, it is challenging to pinpoint. We are confident that the issue will be identified and rectified soon.
