CLEMSON UNIVERSITY February 9, 1996 Mr. Jerry Richardson Richardson Sports Carrilon Building, Suite 1600 227 West Trade Street Charlotte, North Carolina 28202 Dear Mr. Richardson: As you may already know, the University recently announced that from the revenues derived from the Carolina Panthers' use of Memorial Stadium, $900,000 would be applied to an endowment to support the awarding of academic scholarships. This coupled with the $100,000 up front gift from the Richardson Family will help Clemson address one of its greatest needs -- more funds to attract the State's and region?s top high school graduates. In its meeting of February 2, 1996, the Clemson Board of Trustees asked that I express to you their sincere appreciation for selecting Clemson as the home site of the Panthers inaugural season. There were so many benefits that came from the Panthers/ Tiger relationship to include a tremendous amount of positive national exposure, but the lasting benefit for years to come will be the scholarship endowment that will help so many young people . Please accept the Board's best wishes for the continued success of the Carolina Panthers Organization. We are sure that Tiger fans will also continue to be Panthers fans in the years ahead. Sincerely, Manning N. Lomax P.S. A copy of Mr. Robinson's memo outlining use of the Panthers revenue is enclosed for your information.
