COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES DEPARTMENT - um Tacit INCIDENT REPORT - NARRATIVE 916-15226?0681-151 ass ,m4us While assigned to the Los Angeles County Sheriff?s Department Domestic Highway Enforcement Team, which patrols the Interstate 5 corridor for criminal activity (including but not limited to drug smuggling, money smuggling, human trafficking, illegal weapons possession, stolen vehicles, and the search for missing and exploited children) I was patrolling south bound l-S north of the Gorman exit. saw a white BMW (CA plate 7MV2892) driving in the #1 lane. The vehicle was traveling at approximately 80 MPH. As I pulled along side the vehicle (in the number 2 lane) the vehicle slowed down to approximately 73 MPH (22349 CVC). I conducted a check VIA of the license plate. The return showed the vehicle registration had been suspended as of 8-12-16, violation of (4000 CVC). decided to conduct a traf?c stop to warn/cite the driver for the above violations. The vehicle yielded to the right and came to a stop about 1/4 mile south of the Gorman exit. 'fied as Ramon Mercado. 01/27/1994) for his driver's license, registration and insurance. i talked to the driver and passenger using my limited Spanish skills. The driver told me he did not have a driver's license and asked him to exit the car. The driver exited the car and met in between our two vehicle. asked me his passport. I asked the driver where he was coming from and he said, ?Stockton." I asked the driver where he was going and he told me he was taking his father to Los Angeles and then his father was going to Mexico. I asked the driver for his Based on the drlvers consent and the odor of Marijuana, conducted a search of the car. - I started my search in the front passenger area of the car. I thought it was odd the luggage was sitting on the back seat of the car and not in the trunk. Based on the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, I expected to open the trunk and find bags of marijuana. When I did open the trunk, it was almost empty except for a few tools and miscellaneous items. noticedthe ectl be at did not match th ca tin the rest trunk it looked to me like there was a false wall. pushed on the wall and it moved back and forth. This is not normal. I also noticed after market wires running across the top of the false wall. I traced the wires. could see one wasjust grounded to the sidewall of the trunk. This is not factory. cut the wires and using cable extensions, i applied 12v power to the wires. I heard a "click" and the false wall came down. - (Rowli'??) comm QF - - . not moroemeeponr-Immnve :.916.-1522620681-151 . 035 miwi Whenth?wail came down. i' could see a black gunon the left side of the'cornpartinent. i could also see a sock on ., the right side; inside the?sock there Were two boxes of ammunition. i recovered thegun. .I checked the serial :?Lnurn?ber' in AFS.
