Thank you for taking the time to let the City of Seattle know of the concerns of your membership who perform an important responsibility in our community. I have followed up on your concerns with the Seattle Police Department. Chief Best and I have agreed to discontinue the use of transporting detained suspects and arrested individuals who have no medical needs to the County’s correctional facilities. If the City of Seattle does consider alternative forms of transportation in the future, we will reach out to stakeholders, including Teamsters 763, to discuss the scope and work related to this form of transport. I want to let you know this will have no impact on the current RFP process for medical transports to the hospitals. Please share with your members that we appreciate the critical work they perform every day. Our Seattle residents are fortunate to have such a dedicated workforce. Sincerely, Jenny A.
