New York, January 21, 2018 Dear Archbishop Hebda, I am sending you this email regarding a calumny which made a great harm to my reputation, also in my personal relation with Pope Francis, which was present in the report of Fr. Dan Griffith made public on July 2016. This fake accusation, published by AP and in the first page of New York Time, has never been publicly denied and can be repeated yet again in any moment to be used against me to destroy my person. On January 19, 2017 I sent you this text message: "Dear Archbishop, today the Italian Journalist Fittipaldi published a book accusing me of covering the inquiry in Minneapolis, with heavy calumnies against me. I spoke with Greg Burke and lawyer Lena at the Vatican and I sent a message to Arch. Becciu. All is based in the wrong report of Fr. Griffith. I think, at the right moment, something should be done also in Minneapolis, to protect the Church and my reputation." Not having received any answer from you, on January 28, 2017 I wrote a letter, with a Memorandum on the report of Fr. Griffits, to the Nuncio in Washington, Arch. Christophe Pierre, asking him to transmit my request to your Excellency. The Nuncio confirmed to me that he did so, but that he didn't receive any answerfrom you. Since then I tried several times to contact you by phone, leaving to you voice messages but I never received a sign of consideration from you. So, after a year and half since this matter spoiled my reputation with the Pope, lam still exposed defenseless to this grave calumny from Fr. Griffith. Archbishop, you will find here annexed my mentioned letter and Memorandum to the Nuncio Pierre and I hope that this time I can be honored of an answer from you. I am at present in New York. My telephone number is --. But I am also ready to go to Minneapolis to meet you before returning to Italy next Saturday 27. Kind regards Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, Apostolic Nuncio
