In furtherance of that commitment, Caltrans complies with national standards for traf?c safety devices and design operations. Nationally, there are new standards for a variety of highway safety devices in the Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) for guardrail end treatments. Caltrans is actively engaged in complying with the new MASH standards, which currently the X-Lite guardrail end treatment does not comply with. We have removed the X?Lite guardrail end treatment (in-line and ?ared) from the Caltrans Authorized Materials List. In addition, we will forthwith be replacing damaged X-Lite guardrail end treatment with MASH compliant products.
