Plaintiffs’ Omnibus Motion for 19 Sanctions will detail Defendants’ repeated failure to comply with the Court’s orders and the 20 Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, which has led to significant delay, inefficiency, prejudice to 21 Plaintiffs, and monetary harm in discovery and document production in this case. 22 Plaintiffs do not seek to burden the Court with their request for an over-length brief and 23 are cognizant of the Local Rules and the Court’s Standing Orders, which discourage motions for 24 leave to file over-length briefs. Plaintiffs have made their best efforts to keep the Omnibus 25 Motion for Sanctions concise, but submit that good cause exists for extending the page limits. 26 Plaintiffs seek twelve additional pages, bringing the maximum page length to twenty-four. Plaintiffs likewise want to be sure that Defendants have sufficient space to be fully 5 heard on each of the issues for which Plaintiffs seek relief. The additional pages will ensure that 6 the Court is fully advised before issuing any order. 7 Second, Plaintiffs do not flippantly move for sanctions. It is a significant motion, and 8 should be treated with a similar degree of gravity as a motion for summary judgment or motion 9 for class certification. Briefing on such motions are entitled to be up to twenty-four pages in 10 length. Plaintiffs request that the Court grant additional pages consistent with such motions. 11 Defendants will not be prejudiced, because they will be permitted an equal number of additional 12 pages for their opposition brief. See LCR 7(f)(4). 13 Third, rather than filing separate sanctions motions, Plaintiffs seek to conserve judicial 14 resources by requesting the Court consider multiple requests for relief in an omnibus motion. 15 Plaintiffs require additional pages to present all requested relief, legal standards, and arguments, 16 in one omnibus motion. 17 Given the importance of these issues, Plaintiffs respectfully submit that an extension of 18 the page limit is necessary to adequately describe the parties’ conduct, articulate the governing 19 legal standards for the multiple types of relief sought by Plaintiffs, and to apply those standards 20 to the facts in this case.
