Media Statem 31 August 201 8 Response to Fairfax Any suggestions or evidence relating to the quality of ALDI products will be investigated by our quality assurance technicians, independent laboratories and supply partners. An outside source, with interests unknown, commissioned laboratories to test ALDI products. The results indicated that two products in our Mixed Blossom Honey range had been identified as 'adulterated'. Adulteration is a serious claim, it suggests that additives or masking agents have been added to a product in an eflort to bulk volume, reduce costs or alter the flavor profile. ALDI is in the process of further investigating the claims as we have independent laboratory results that clearly identify the product as pure, 100% honey. These results were obtained by a similarly accredited lab and completed within weeks oithose provided by the media outlet. ALDI has immediately commenced an investigation in to the matter. This investigation will involve engagement with the two independent laboratories in Germany and the supplier of the honey. If the investigations conclude thatthe product has been adulterated, it will permanently be removed irom sale at ALDI and further actions will be taken with the supplier. Despite the claims posing no health risks, ALDI has taken the proactive step to temporarily remove the product irom sale while the matter is investigated. As we state, we sell 100% pure honey. Ii it is found that this is notthe case it will be addressed and dealt with immediately. We are proud oi our Australian and Mixed Blossom Honey range and evidence that suggests the quality has been compromised will be investigated in full force.
