ADDENDUM TO TITLE IX COMPLAINT Response to No. 4: I was personally discriminated against after the University ?red Associate Head Coach Chris Malveaux, who recruited me and was my position coach. Coach Malveaux was an African American, and I believe that his termination was based on racial motivation, and his termination directly affected me. Because I was close to Coach Malveaux, I believe I have been targeted because of this relationship and as a result I do not even get to attend practice anymore. I also believe I was discriminated against by the current coaches based on my sexual orientation. 1, along with some of my teammates, identify as heterosexual. As soon as the new coaching staff took over, I, along with other heterosexual teammates, do not even get to practice, let alone play in any games. Moreover, other of my teammates who identify as homosexual were selected to actively participate in practice and to play, almost to the exclusion of other heterosexual players. Finally, I believe I was the subject of gender based discrimination because of the unequal treatment of the softball team compared to other athletic teams at the University. Response to No. 5: Beginning December 2017, new coaches, including Gerry Glasco, were hired to take over the softball team. Since this time, I believe I have been constantly discriminated against based on my gender and my sexual orientation. Speci?cally, I believe Shelly Landry, the interim head coach/liaison to the Senior Women?s Administrator, and the Senoir Women?s Advisor Jessica Clark Leger, and discriminated against me because I do not identify as homosexual. Since the new coaches took over in December, 2017, I have been repeatedly told I am too overweight to get any play time, and have further been told I should simply move to a small school if I want to play softball. These decisions were made without any consideration of my athletic abilities, which is also the case with some of my fellow teammates. Rather, I believe I have been effectively alienated from the rest of the team, along with my other heterosexual teammates, simply because ofour sexual orientation. I do not receive any practice time or hitting time, although I am made to show up to ?practice? at 1:00 in the afternoon in order to pick up balls and perform other menial tasks for the team. I am separated from my teammates, and am often required to stay until 8:00 at night. As soon as I ?nished doing the ?work? assigned to me, I am often made to sit idle while other teammates practice in order to wait for my next task, which is often menial labor. Furthermore, I was personally told by Coach Glasco that I was unworthy of being a redshirt (meaning you get one year to practice where you do not compete against outside competition) without even seeing me play. He repeatedly tells me I am not athletic, even though he has never seen me play. I believe this is just a pretense to discriminating against me because ofmy gender. Furthermore, for several months following our prior coaches termination, we were without an athletic trainer, which is required by NCAA. In other words, we did not have an assigned trainer for our team for about ?ve months, which also means we were not provided with water and other basic needs during practice. We were also denied functional strength evaluations, all because our female team was not valued as much as other male athletic programs. So, in addition to being personally discriminated against because of my sexual orientation, the University has discriminated against me because of my gender, which is apparent from the lack of support and staffing, which is in fact in violation of NCAA rules.
