To whom it may concern,

I am contacting you in relation to your recent request under the Access to Information on the
Environment regulations where you sought the following:

copies of any guidelines or similar documents containing guidance on how climate
change should be covered by

There are no guidelines or similar documents which contain guidance on how climate change should
be covered by RTE and as such your request must be refused under Section 7(5) of the Unofficial
Consolidation of the AIE regulations.

However, it should be noted that there are extensive guidelines already in existence covering how
RTE staff and programmes carry out their functions. They include RTE Journalism Guidelines and RTE
Programme Content Standards. They specifically highlight areas such as accuracy, impartiality,
editorial integrity and independence as well as serving the public, all of which are core values to RTE.
These are available on the RTE website but I have attached links to them here for ease of access.

Right to review

As this is a refusal under the AIE Regulations, you are entitled to seek a review of my decision under
Section 11(1). You have one month from receipt of this letter in which to lodge an appeal. You can do
this by contacting the RTE Group Secretary, Mr. Cillian de Paor at foi@rte.ie or via post at RTE
Administration Building, RTE, Dublin 4. In turn Mr. DePaor has four weeks to review the
