Being a shift employee does not give any seniority, administrative, or supervisory position or authority within NECAS. Shift employees must abide with all policies within the NECAS Policy manual. Shift employees are still considered to be employed ?at will? with this service. This agreement is not a contract but only serves to layout specific guidelines that are expected for each shift employee. Employee: David Craig Consideration for being a shift employee with NECAS is based on an individual basis and may vary between employees. Factors that will be considered are license level, hours that need covered, years of service as an EMT, years of service with NECAS. This is reflected in the NECAS policy manual 1.16. Pay is considered in similar fashion that is negotiable between NECAS and the employee per policy 10.8. Based on this information, NECAS prOposes the following as conditions for being considered a shift employee: 1. Shifts are to be 13 hours long. 2. There are to be 5 shifts per week, or 65 hours per week. 3. The pay per shift will be $120.00, or $600.00 per week if all required shifts are worked. 4 If you need or are scheduled for a shorter shift, the remaining hours must be made up to be considered a full shift. Any hours beyond the shift hours listed above will be considered at the volunteer level. Any hours worked as volunteer will be paid at the volunteer rates. 7. The first 20 calls are figured into the shift pay. Any calls greater than this will be paid at the same call pay for the license level. 8. Shift pay will be paid bi-weekly, all volunteer and excess calls will be paid at the normal NECAS board meeting. 9. If working as a volunteer, you may respond as a volunteer. (You may stay at home, etc.) 10. Weekly hours are to coincide with the weekly schedule. Carry over is not allowed. 11. You are expected to be at the station when on shift. 12. Chores around the station will be completed by those working on shift. Shift time may be scheduled with either another shift employee or a volunteer. Being scheduled with a volunteer does not permit you to respond as a volunteer. Remaining on station while on shift is still required. Special consideration is given to time given overnight. If sleeping arrangements can not be accommodated for 2 shift workers, you may respond from home the same as volunteers.
