List of necessary upgrades to make the House wheelchair-accessible for Rep-Elect Jennifer Longdon. Please note this does not include a needs assessment of accessibility for the public or any of the men's restrooms. House Member Parking Lot o Accessible parking space(s)  Would need 8ft in addition to parking space for ramp – a current space and a half would provide enough space  Combining three current parking spots would accommodate two parking spots Basement Women's restroom: o Doors are too heavy. If they are fire-doors, we need the door to be able to open automatically o Clear pathways: move tables and trash cans out of the pathway so wheelchairs can move more easily o No wheelchair-accessible stalls – Need to enlarge stalls o Paper towels too high Note: Please note this is the restroom in which Rep-elect Longdon previously broke her hand because the restroom did not accommodate her needs. Research/Accounting o Door to accounting/research area needs to have capacity to open automatically 1st Floor Back door o Needs a ramp for building accessibility o Needs automatic doors because they are too heavy to open Offices and back of hearing rooms areas: o Front and back security doors to back offices need to be automatic. o Hallways need to be cleared so we would have to talk to Pages about placement of carts, especially outside Democratic Caucus room. Ramps to access the back of hearing rooms: o Ramps are too steep; if no changes can be made to the ramps, handrails on both sides of the ramps are necessary. o Mirrors on the ceiling or the wall to prevent collisions when coming downs the ramps. Hearing rooms: o Hearing rooms 3, 4 and 5 table on dais are too low and Rep.-elect Longdon can't fit. It seems that it is only the decorative border that is low and can be removed to accommodate for a wheelchair user to fit. Please note we did not check the height in HHR1, but HHR2 does fit. 2nd Floor Restrooms: o No wheelchair-accessible stalls o Wheelchair users can’t enter east restroom Doors: o Security doors must be automatic o Doors to member's lounge and to floor need to be automatic o Speaker's desk is not accessible – a portable ramp can accommodate in case Rep.-elect Longdon is given the same opportunity as other members to chair COW. 3nd Floor Doors: o Security doors must be automatic Restrooms: o No wheelchair- accessible stalls
