Date: To: From: Subject: October 1, 2018 Council Member Teresa Mosqueda Debra Smith Community Meetings Update Good afternoon Councilmember Mosqueda, The purpose of this email is to follow-up on a few things in advance of the Council vote on Monday. Specifically, I believe there are three outstanding items that I'd like to close. 1. You suggested that I schedule time with community stakeholders as part of the confirmation process and I've either met with, spoken with or scheduled time with each of the names you provided. Please see notes below. Nancy Hirsh, ED – NW Energy Coalition - Nancy and I have been in touch multiple times throughout the process; most recently she attended a meeting with the environmental community earlier this afternoon. Jeffrey Johnson, President – WA State Labor Council - I was scheduled to meet with Jeff this morning but he got called to Olympia. I have re-scheduled for the morning of October 12th. Jesse Piedfort, ED – Sierra Club of Washington - I had hoped that Jesse would attend today's meeting with the environmental community but Bill Arthur attended in his stead. I will look for opportunities to interact in the near future. Devin Glaser, ED – Upgrade Seattle - Devin and I spoke by phone last week and we agreed to get together once the confirmation process is complete and I've started in my new position. Alec Connon, 350 Seattle - Alec and I planned to meet in person today but he had a transportation issue so we spoke by phone and had a good discussion. Really interesting conversation and we agreed to get together once the confirmation process was complete. 2. As you know, I had an opportunity to meet with the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission last Friday and had a productive and really enjoyable conversation. Per your request, I have attached a one-page summary of the meeting. Environmental Community - I've really appreciated the opportunity to engage with this group and get to know them a bit before (hopefully) moving into my new role. They have been generous with their time, knowledge and deep understanding of the issues that demand collaboration. I believe Joseph Bogaard (Save Our Wild Salmon) will testify at the Council meeting on Monday about the value they see in the collaborative relationship going forward. Pasted below are the talking points they provided in advance of our discussion. It was productive and we were well-aligned. I shared this with City Light's Lynn Best, earlier in the day and we were in agreement on all points I also followed up with Alice Lockridge via email and copied you and Sejal on the communication. Alice has subsequently responded and I think we're on the same page. I look forward to seeing you on Monday. Please let me know if there are additional outstanding items that I've not addressed. Thank you so much.
