Dear Mr. Quirk:

An occurrence of October 23, 2018 has come to my attention that compels me to
author this letter to you and your Association on behalf of the Columbian
Lawyers Association as its President.

The Columbian Lawyers Association, First Judicial Department was founded in
1955 and takes pride in fostering excellence in the legal community. Its Italian-
American members have included prominentjurists and practicing attorneys who
promote justice.

While we revere the right to protest, we find your actions of the evening of
October 23, 2018 inappropriate, reprehensible, and a direct insult to Janet
DiFiore, our Honorable Chief Judge of the State of New York. You and your
Association members, in donning a shirt that included, in part, the words
?Organized Crime Association,? followed by ?Beaver Street Bullies? was clearly
an attack on the Honorable Janet DiFiore and her ltalo-American heritage.

wish to bring to your attention the Chief Judge?s tough stances on crime
throughout her career experience as the District Attorney of Westchester County.

We request that you consider issuing a public apology to Hon. Janet DiFiore and

the entire Italian-American community, some of whom I am sure are members of
your Association for the poorjudgment exercised by you and your Association.

correct the behavior exhibited and graciously to the dignity appropriate
to the Chief Judge, her Office, and the ltalian-American community, some of
whom I am sure are members of your own Association.

You have insulted a highly esteemed individual and a segment of the community.
