The finalized plan will guide all management within the planning area for the next 20-30 years, including what areas are available for energy development, recreation, and conservation priorities. Currently, the BLM is nearing its public release of the draft plan, scheduled for May 2018. The RMP provides stakeholders the ability to weigh in on land management. As the Permian Basin experiences an unprecedented boom, this is an important time to come together to identify priorities, concerns, and positive land management solutions that will best serve local communities. While the BLM will open a comment period when the draft plan is released, this roundtable discussion provides a more substantive opportunity for a diversity of voices to discuss challenges and opportunities with the boom – in the context of the BLM’s RMP – to help the agency better understand how their plan could be crafted to address community feedback. As a prominent community member and public lands stakeholder, your participation in this discussion is valuable. We hope you consider attending.
