Team - - an ABC journalist contacted us with a photo of a man with a mohawk on a train - and he was wearing what appeared to be prison greens and prison shoes. It would seem the prisdner had been discharged from - .[attachment deleted by Rod WiselPerson/DOJ] However the issue for us is that it seems there is an increasing number of prisoners coming into custody with only the clothes on their back - and then refusing to wear the Salvation Army supply When required fer Court or discharge. As a result there is an increasing number of prisoners being sent to Court in prison greens or discharged in greens. The preference is that this does not happen - do you think its worth getting Prison industries to supply each prison with a smaii supply of a variety of sizes of a different colour tracksuits seems we already make biue,.grey black and white so thatwe do not have prisoners being discharged in greens). if you couid get your views to and we see what can be done. reurlan Money PSM A/Deputy Commissioner Operations Corrections Victoria 22/ 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 Department of .iustiec Regulation Phone:? Releasing prisoners in gray tracksuit or sending them to court in these also when they have no other property could become quite costiy to the iocation in the last 6 months the MRO has had the following discharges: -discharges -AC and bailed which' IS a total cit-(6 months) With this nu in mind and the total to purchase a fut outfit this equate to the possibte monetary figure orator a 6 month period. This figure is fluid as most prisoners have there own clothing however this is a potential figure. Please advise if you need any other info or you wouid like me to go ahead with ordering these tracksuits. Thanks Metropotitan Remand Centre North West Metropoiitan Region Middle Ftoad. Today the Bendigo Advertiser published a photo of a prisoner (i think at the Bendigo County Court) in what appears to be a green prison issued tracksuit. (we're not sure when the photo was taken, we re assuming it was yesterday when the prisoner attended court). Could you please ensure that prisoners are provided with alternative ciothing'for court or telecourt attendances either from their property, a stock of emergency clothing, or grey tracksuits from Prison industries.
