In addition to the required licensing agreement between the City and the operators, specific data sharing standards are required. Data reporting from shared mobility companies should be consistent and comprehensive. These guidelines will help inform Salt Lake City on current shared mobility practices, aid in future ordinance development, and ensure that data shared is in-line with national standards. DATA SHARING STANDARDS The following items are consistent with requirements across the U.S. and should pose no hardship on shared mobility companies to provide:  Companies operating in the public right of way must provide the city with accurate and complete information on a monthly basis, that includes the following information: o o o o o o     Scooter deployment numbers, locations, and schedule Origin and destination information Number of trips and miles ridden Reports on system use, compliance, maintenance/damaged equipment, and crashes Data shall be provided within 5 business days after the last day of the previous month The City has the right to request data reports more frequently as needed Companies must provide data directly to the city, or city-approved 3rd party data aggregator (e.g. a university) Companies must ensure customer data privacy Customers should not be required to provide personal data with 3rd parties to use mobility devices Anonymized data must be available for public consumption, e.g. an online dashboard; the City is subject to the GRAMA open records law and all non-private or protected information is public SALT LAKE CITY CORPORATION 349 SOUTH 200 EAST, SUITE 150 PO BOX 145502, SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH 84114-5502 WWW.SLCGOV.COM TEL 801-535-6630    At minimum, data should be provided to the city in the General Bike Share Feed Specification (GBFS) format: : https://github.com/NABSA/gbfs The city can request reports in .csv or .exls formats in addition to the GBFS format All vehicles must ping, at minimum every 90 seconds while in use, to accurately track use pattern and location These data standards and reporting requirements may continue to evolve as license agreements and ordinance development move forward, or, as national standards change.
