December 13, 1975 Mr. Robert H. Meierr Chairman MacBride for President Committee 1516 Street, N.W. Washington, D.C., 20005 Dear Bob, Thank you for your letter of December 5, 1975, informing me of the status of your request for an Advisory Opinion from the Federal Election Commission. Good luck in this since it could be important not only with us, but with other potential donors as well. Concerning the proposed escrow agreement, I hope I have not misled Ed because I do not feel it advisable for me to enter into such an agreement. Beyond not liking escrow arrangements (having had bad experiences with them in the past), I do not want to tie up funds that can be used elsewhere by making a contingent contribution. Also, the amount I plan to contribute is less than $25,000. The total amount you would receive from us depends on what the rest of my family decides to give at the time the legal question is resolved. I think the best procedure is for you to apply to the EEG and then notify us of their decision. At that time, we will decide what amounts we should contribute. With best wishes, Sincerely, @111.
