Response from the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR), November 16: DEDJTR is committed to protecting Victoria’s forests while also meeting the community’s demand for wood and paper products and supporting employment in an important regional industry. We agree that greater clarity and certainty can be provided by incorporating more granular and strictly defined harvesting boundaries in the Allocation Order and Timber Release Plan. However, we can confirm that uncertainty with the current AO and TRP has not resulted in unauthorised harvesting in protected areas. To avoid this confusion in future, both DEDJTR and DELWP support more granular spatial data being used as a part of future allocation orders.
